rickrutgers has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

How to source a networkshare. The networkshare is on a nas-storage. The perl script is in a linux virtual machine. The networkshare is "//192.168.100.32/somedir1/somedir2". The networkshare is password protected but this password is known and maybe used in the syntax. I've tried this with readdir but this will not work. Any input is welcome. Thanks Rick.

Mount the remote share under linux or use something like (assuming SMB) the command line tool smbclient or Filesys::SmbClient, or whatever, depending on the protocol. Failing that contact your network/system admin.
