Personally, I think the idea to allow ++ on home nodes is good, but not if allowing -- were a contingency, for a couple of reasons:

Perhaps a better forum for this would be a weekly poll that counted votes based on write-in nominations.

    Perhaps users could be given the option to "present" their home nodes as available for voting? This method would :

    • Bring the concept closer back to the original contest idea, though perhaps slightly less competitively
    • Not penalize new users or users who wish to use their home nodes for personal expression only.
    • Permit --'ing the home nodes of only those users who willingly choose to run that risk

      I'm afraid I'd still have to stick with the weekly poll idea for write in votes (not ++/--). Perhaps the weekly winners could garner a few XP but I can't see giving oodles of XP for home node decor.
