You are guru, no doubt. The uncompressed and compressed file size counting depends on the default file size, it seems there is no rate to be used as formula to count both of them from a gzip file. If the formula exists, yours is 100% correct. In addition, I count the file size from a flat file that I gathered from Operating System must be counted in Julian order and Julian data are populated randomly as some other gurus warned me.
