How to install CGI in ubuntu machine?

Ankur_kuls has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi, I have just started learning CGI on my linux ubuntu machine. I googled many pages about installing apache2 and then CGI settings..but not able to execute any test script. Everytime it throws the error "Internal Server Error" without provide any specific details. Could you please help me on this or can provide some basic well explained tutorials who can guide me through this from the begining. Thanks

Look in the apache error log for the details. In ubuntu this is usually in /var/log/apache2/	[reply]

Hi, Thanks all for the help. test.sh is working now..problem was within my script. But now when I am trying to run a simple perl script (containg only html data) through my browser..Its downloading my .pl script instead of outputting the HTML data on the browser.	[reply]

Apache has the error_log file which has specific details of failures. See Ovid's CGI Course from Tutorials->Web Programming, along with the Apache documentation.	[reply]
