Why don't you try the packages option, instead of installing from sources, install one of the pre-built packages?

installing from CPAN fails too. I even went as far as modifying the contents of the downloaded build files, in an attempt to make it line up. that's why I ended up trying to install from source.	[reply]

CPAN is a source code repository http://invisible-island.net/cdk/cdk-perl.html lists https://packages.debian.org/search?searchon=names&keywords=libcdk-perl and http://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/devel/p5-Cdk/ This is what I mean by packages apt-get install libcdk-perl	[reply]
