It's not even clear to me that perldoc is available to kgovert007 in the ancient, crippled 'baseline' Perl installation with which he or she is lumbered. Basically, the problem is "How do I write a sophisticated Perl program without using anything one would consider (modern) Perl?" (And make no mistake, XML parsing is a complex and sophisticated application.)	[reply]

Exactly! My initial attempt with this problem is to simply chomp each line of text (My ICD guarantees that at least I can be assured that each new tag is on a new line) into an array, and walk through the array, keeping track of a few flags and variables along the way so I can make changes as needed... Painful and retarded, but I think it's the best I can come up with in a short time frame with my ridiculous constraints.	[reply]
