karlgoethebier:

I think it's more like this:

find /some/place -type f -print0 | xargs -0 ./foo.pl

I've already done that a dozen times today. I'd agree that typing in very many arguments by hand would be a PITA, but quite a few of us automate our already-automated tasks.

    "...more like this"

    Yes sure. I surrender.

May be i misunderstood the OP.

I thought the problem was about having a command line like:

    ./myCommand -a foo -b bar -c nose -d cuke --penalty tye  -g lorem -h ipsum -l and perhaps 20 more?

And this is a ugly command line interface.

Thanks roboticus for clarifying and best regards, Karl

FWIW, that’s how I read it too but rereading it I see that my brain silently substituted flags/switches for arguments. Even as it stands, the OP is vague enough that I’m not positive which is really meant. The context still suggests flags because worrying about an argument list that small is, as noted by others, a little odd.

...not only yours (assuming i have some brain too) ;-)

        Best regards, Karl
