Geany IDE with Perl

bigal_george has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi in the last couple of days Ive gotten to like perl. But there doesnt seem to be any way to get Geany to provide code completion or syntax help so being new, Im forever switching to browser/perlmonks etc for more wizdom. Not a bad thing, but slows one down a tad. If any of you use Geary and know something I dont about getting it to work with syntax help in Perl please enlighten. Otherwise, Geany still works well enough for me to continue its use. As an aside, is there any way to get this forum to notify my email address when received replys? I can seem to find the switch notifications. Thanks vm. Alistair.

Here's a small thread on Geany (which is indeed a little simplistic, but I still like it), plus a couple other IDE possibilities with Perl integrated more tightly: geany (?) Perl plugin for IntelliJ IDEA 2019.2 available Padre, the Perl IDE (seems still somewhat maintained) ActiveState Komodo (commercial, I think there's a free version) Eclipse Perl Integration (apparently unmaintained, though) And of course one should not forget `vim` and `emacs`. Hi ? https://www.geany.org/manual/current/#autocompletion Not a bad thing, but slows one down a tad. If the speed of typing is whats slowing down your programming genius, surely you can afford any number of typists :P I've tried geany a few times, had occasion to kill the proc, lost a file -- dumb feature	[reply]

Yes, had RTFM and seen the autocompletion, but its so rudimentary as to be of little use. I'd hoped that there was an editor that also gave code hints like my Netbeans. Cheers, Genius Al.	[reply]
