Apropos A/B Testing, (it seems a good place to mention it since you mentioned it) it will probably need integration with what the client sees in the browser: your html, in order to measure various statistics. See for example some paid frameworks like hotjar. I mean if you are interested in more than just measuring eventual sales. So, perhaps it's worth keeping that in mind too when refactoring.

We have Hotjar installed and make use of the heat maps, scroll maps and session recordings so we have a good idea of where visitors are getting stuck. We also have Google Optimize installed and set up ready for A-B testing although we haven't used it yet. I plan to have a template file for all the third party tags - Google Analytics, Facebook pixel, Hotjar, etc. This file will be imported by the header file but will be separate to make adjustments simpler. What else should I be aware of whilst refactoring?	[reply]

What else should I be aware of whilst refactoring? Perhaps track the path+duration of a user through your site with an initial cookie? perhaps multi-lingual support using just one template for all languages?	[reply]
