Yes but pointing him to an OS related board might be more efficient and he should be made aware that this is not a Perl issue.

The diagnostics in the OP were already pretty clear that it's an installation problem.

I expanded my answer too. I don't see expect in the beginner's domain, my guess is rather someone posing as an admin and crowdsourcing° his lacking skills. I mean, maybe? I could equally see someone being given a script to run that calls expect, to automate something, and running into trouble. Most people post here to crowdsource problems they can't resolve themselves.	[reply]
