You should have left the post as it was, and used 'moderation' to request that it be re-parented to the correct thread.

He's actually been asked to read "How do I change/delete my post?" on a number of occasions. Using this search, results in four instances of being pointed to that node: [href://?node_id=3989;BIT=17557;pa=harangzsolt33].

In my opinion, this pretence of naïveté, with "I see no delete button", is just trolling. It's another of his snide posts; such as this reply to me: "Re^5: I prefer not to run the latest version of Perl because:". I considered his node for reaping.
