Piled higher (&) Deeper authorship is no guarantee of quality content. :-) Quite seriously, tho, if you can tell me the PhD author is a bioinformatics practitioner with a some serious CS and Perl background, I'd take citing the authorship more seriously. But merely citing degrees is NOT a recommendation, per se. Try "Learning Perl" -- at least for a start.

Have you even looked at the freely available primer that is the inspiration for this book? Its pretty good

I think the cited sentence from the OP supports my reading -- that OP wants to learn some Perl, as well as his explicitly stated interest in Python and bioperl. Does your response mean you think that interpretation is off-base? actually this is quite funny, i realised, because when i was very young (not that im that old now). But before i got into computers i actually had a huge interest in biology to. I mean the main point for me in this Unix and Perl book is indeed Unix amd Perl. But this relation to biology, hmm interesting, coincidence? :D	[reply]
