Want single installation for perl, git & openssh server

redss has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I need to run an openssh server, but nothing I've tried so far works well (shwindows, freesshd, copssh) not to mention that's yet another redundant unix environment to keep track of, since I already use activestate perl and msysgit, each of which only does one thing well.

Is there a solution that combine those 3 tools (git, perl, openssh server) within just one environment so that I don't have to keep track of multiple unix environments? (as I understand it cygwin's perl implementation lacks good win32 support as found in activestate/strawberry perl, but I could be wrong)

Install Virtualbox, and set up a VM with a *nix distro. You can set everything up, then you can run it in its own window, or run it in the background (headless), and use Putty to connect to it via SSH. I've never had any issues with Cygwin's Perl implementation, but I suppose that depends on what you mean by "Win32 support". -stevieb	[reply]

you could try one more :-) KpyM Telnet/SSH Server is open source (and works for me :-)) That said, I second stevieb's comment. Perhaps have a look at http://www.turnkeylinux.org/revision-control which is also available as VMDK.	[reply]
