For those interested in this problem, I settled on a solution (at least for now) using Moose. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and help. It was invaluable.
$PM = "Perl Monk's";
$MCF = "Most Clueless Friar Abbot Bishop Pontiff Deacon";
$nysus = $PM . $MCF;
