Thanks for the suggestion, but actually I use and Ipod and gnu pod to load them up. As far as to figuring out what versions have been read I'm unsure how to determine that as to the fact I'm working with mp3 with id3 tags of different version. All seem to work, but not always in the fashion I expect such as artists being displayed wrong in the car.

I just had a theory. Maybe it boils down to the differences of v1 and v2. I believe v1 relies on predetermined tags and v2 allows for creation of any tags. Im going to start testing this theory, but if anyone wants to chime in as to whether I'm on the right path or not it could be helpful. Most especial if I am heading down the wrong path.
