Your first lesson in computer science needs to be about how you communicate with your peers and colleagues.

You didnt format your question in any way. You didnt even attempt to help us to help you. You didnt post what code you have so that our help can be constructive and not actually sub-contracting your homework. If my boss asked me to do something with that description I would refuse until it was rewritten. Why should I do different for you?

As it is homework, we might help, especially if the person shows that they've made an effort.

Take the time, read the posting guidlines, Perl Monks Approved HTML tags, make use of the preview button, but most importantly _try_ to solve the problem yourself.

I would suggest that a good place to start would be to go back thru the notes for the course where you were set this problem. They will either cover the subject in detail or point you at further reading that will help you.

If this isn't the case then you should probably go back to the lecturer and ask for further guidance.

You go to a school that teaches perl?? I would love to know which school that is... None of the schools around here teach it.
      Pulaski Technical College
      North Little Rock, Arkansas
I think this course is only offered during the Spring semester. That is the only time I have ever seen it listed. The instructor is Michael McMillian (or McMillan). He has written a book or two about perl programming, but I can't remember the titles off hand.
      Blacksmith.
