If anyone is interested, Larry Wall was the keynote speaker at a recent Curry On where he talked about Perl 6 in his uniquely "Larry" way ":-)".

I kind of want that Forrest Fire algorithm to run as my screensaver at work, but my productivity, and that of my cube neighbors, would probably dip dramatically.

    Please use my Perl6. PLEEZ!

Ha, maybe a little like that, but I would be too if I'd worked on something for over a decade. He did demonstrate some things that I'd guess got some of the crowd interested (and others horrified).

He did grab my sudden attention, via a combination of hopeful curiosity and pessimistic worry, in the beginning when he mentioned "Smart Match". As it is, I only use that for debugging my Perl 5 code, and even then I don't always trust what it tells me. Perhaps they are determined to try it again from the beginning in an attempt to "get it right" this time?
