As a long term user I was a little surprised you didn't know about cpan ratings,

I probably wouldn't have used them if I had.

I tend to look inside modules and make my own judgements; but I'm not the audience that is bitten by modules like Switch sorting to the top of the search.

    There's no substitute for proper investigation, the ratings have a purpose which IMHO they address. Hidden ratings, from what I've seen so far, are SPAM or low quality post.

      Agreed, but it presupposes the wherewithal to do that investigation. Without a good level of understanding, making quality judgements about code is a big ask.

        Absolutly. The ratings service, or rather it's intended target audience (as described above) would benefit greatly from your expertise.
