TOP level:

I mean that what I see is an ugly flashing of re-rendering buttons.

Detail:

To create the sliding window effect I've used a timer with 10 mSec interval to call the function which sets the sashPlace() location. The sash moves as expected but the re-rendering causing flashing of the elements.

Thanks for the replay. I would like more modern movement without the right side refresh (I don't care if it will be cut off) it just looks bad. Modern web technologies are called parallax like this link: http://jamesjoyce.co.uk/ click on arrow at the right or left sides to see the effect. (just found it on the web not related to me in any way)	[reply]

Ok, I see, you dont want the ~~windows~~ widgets to resize, you want the windows to be able to overlap each other, without changing the size see Tk::MDI for an example of the kind of work required to make such a widget, it uses Tk::place Also see "2. Vertical paned window." in the tk demo program "widget", it might contain hints on doing it simpler I don't know how to get the behavior you want, using geometry managers is mostly trial and error :) your best might be to use Tk::Canvas or better still Tk::Zinc / http://web.archive.org/web/20061020033841/http://www.tkzinc.org/ / http://zentara.net/zinc/	[reply]
