in reply to What are the rules on calling myself?

Where did you read about prototypes?

Just delete the prototype, you dont need them

For an explanation of the error message turn on diagnostics or use splain

    The error message came up when I ran the code.

    Line 266 is where I called myself.

    Do you know the subroutine rules on calling yourself?

    The goal is to loop through and the directorates until I get them all

      Hi,

      A prototype is the ($) part, delete that

      Also, do use diagnostics/splain and read more about it

        I use this:
        use strict; use warnings; use diagnostics;
        Is that what you were referring to?

        There are a lot of "$" in that code. Which one are you referring to?

        Many thanks,
