Thanks for taking the time to check this out. I definitely hit the create button as the post was displayed, appears in the list of nodes I wrote and can be reached via the link in that list.

I can also discount the browser caching as I tried a different laptop that hasn't connected to Perlmonks for months and the post refuses to appear on the parent node on that system as well.
