I've got an email to the fine folks over at Adafruit for clarification on which version of the license was applied to their original code, and even went as far to explain my situation, and how the CPAN ecosystem works (as far as requiring dependencies etc), to see if they can give me direct feedback.

I'll update here when I hear back.

If I had to guess, it looks like this could be the original code. The license is the 3-clause BSD license, without the advertising clause, so AFAICT it should be GPL compatible. But you might also want to try and get confirmation from iliapenev about what the original code was (maybe open an issue).	[reply]

Thanks again haukex, After I sent the email, I've moved on. I've dealt with them for a few years now (not on legal licensing issues mind you), so I'm confident that they'll do the leg-work here and get me authoritative answers. Doesn't hurt to make them aware that some of their products are accessible via Perl either I don't think.	[reply]
