Navigation change request

I know there has been discussion about the <title> tag. I'm very happy that it shows the node title again. But I have one request: Can we add the section (if applicable) the current node is in somewhere in the title or page body?

You see, I have this problem/habit where I open up a lot of windows, and then forget which section I was browsing! Admittedly this is probably a trivial request, but it would go a long way in helping me be more organized. I would be happy with the section either in the <title> text or prepended before the node title in the nav row.

Would "Discussion: More meaningful titles" be too long? Or perhaps on the right on the main column ala the "in reply to X"? Or am I the only one with this problem?

Nope. You are not the only one with the problem, but the solution would effect everybody, which seems like a bad idea (I don't particularly like having my title changed like that). I have proposed an alternative at (crazyinsomniac) Re^2: http://perlmonks.org: Title, or Trash?, which has been implemented on http://www.javajunkies.org, and is just awaiting a certain pmdever to implement it here. Although my sample code only includes the %T %D and %N tokens, adding %S for section shouldn't bee too difficult. As for the default title, I feel it should stay what it has always been, just the title of the node. update: after actually implementing this, I've decided, that %S should only translate into the 'section' name for 'root' nodes, and not replies to nodes. Why you might ask? well because it creates unneccessay hits on the database, and why would a reply be in a different section than it's parent? So for example, if my definition was '%S ~ %N ~ %T' this node "(crazyinsomniac) Re: Navigation change request" would appear as "%S ~ 132327 ~ (crazyinsomniac) Re: Navigation change request" and it's parent, Navigation change request would appear as Discussion ~ 132319 ~ Navigation change request Well, that is what the patch I submitted will do. vroom might choose to change Discussion into PMD, since Seekers Of Perl Wisdom is codenamed SOPW, but that's trivial anyway (just displaying 1040 would tell me it was in PMD). update: The patches have been submitted.
