An idea for a poll, it might be a bit smart-alecky for an actual poll though:

Should the poll nodelet

  • Prevent stuffing
  • Show nothing/results in place of the question once you vote
  • Both
  • Neither
  • --
    perl -pe "s/\b;([st])/'\1/mg"

I wasn't thinking song and dance, but there has been prior discussion of (saving bandwidth) and having the polls have non-uniform display behavior.

In addition, it seems limiting votes by username would be much more effective and sensible (and shouldn't require much modification if they are currently limited by IP). Stash username instead of IP, and then the poll nodelet could use this data to determine how to display itself. No new tables that I can see, maybe one new field in user settings to determine how nodelet displays once you vote.

If I don't have to think about the difficulty(?) involved, I'd rather see results in place of the poll once I've voted. It doesn't change often, but I still have to see if a new question showed up overnight. Guess I'm thinking as an end user.

I think it would be nice (I guess I have come to expect it from other sites) to show results in place of the question once you have voted it would be nice.
