in reply to poll**2

Since the Polls limit voting by IP, making the change you requested would require major rewriting of how the polls work. The additions would include new sql tables ... it would be messy, the gods would have to be involved ... anyway, they're just for fun, and as such, don't have to sing'and'dance (have a lot of features).

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I wasn't thinking song and dance, but there has been prior discussion of (saving bandwidth) and having the polls have non-uniform display behavior.

In addition, it seems limiting votes by username would be much more effective and sensible (and shouldn't require much modification if they are currently limited by IP). Stash username instead of IP, and then the poll nodelet could use this data to determine how to display itself. No new tables that I can see, maybe one new field in user settings to determine how nodelet displays once you vote.

    perl -pe "s/\b;([st])/'\1/mg"

It's something I'd be willing to try and work on, but I am awaiting level 8'ness. I ought to download everything at some point though.

As for AM, the field could hold either or, and I dunno either with some flag, or would it be such a stretch to not allow users to have IP addresses as names -)
