I would be very nice to have a refresh type button in the Chatterbox that doesn't repost what you just posted.

Just hit talk without typing anything to refresh the current page (and chatterbox) without saying anything. You can just click on a link and "open in a new window" to work on one thing and talk in another.

Yeah, I use turnstep's method. BTW, I've been looking for the chatterbox page (I heard there was a dedicated page for the chatterbox) but I've been unable to find it. Anyone know the node?

Look at java chatterbox for a start. I'm hooked...

If the Chatterbox FORM METHOD was changed from GET to POST most browsers would warn you before you resent the same text.

I'm not sure what other repurcussions there might be for navigation though...

All of my browsers already warn me. It is easy to disable these warnings, which I think is why many people don't get warned. I use IE, Netscape, and Lynx.

You're right - it's already POST method - users should already get a warning. Knowing this, I no longer have any sympathy for people who repeat themselves in the chatterbox.

It would also be nice to keep what you are working on when you post something on the chatterbox too. So you don't loose your work.

Another solution is to use a dedicated chatterbox client. Granted this isn't for everybody, but it's kinda nice to be able to use the chatterbox and the site independently sometimes.

    Perl/Tk Chatterbox Client

That is what I use now. I also use the Win32 one too. They are both really good. Shendal and ZZamboni did a very good job on this.
