i been playing with perl for a number of months now, and have caught on rather good. but? when i try to do some of those fancy things like cgi.pm and ftp.pm? if it wasn't for PerlMonks.org... i probably would be bald and banging my head against all those books on my shelf marked: "real perl help" (yea, well...) my expressed gratitude goes to everyone involved with PerlMonks.org, thanx a gigabyte for (putting up with me) everything.

you mean there's any easier way?

I fully agree. I had already built production code (without production quality) when I came across the Monastery.

Needless to say, I have since had to go back to my existing code and (somewhat embarrased) re-write certain stupid solutions.

And of course, the code I write today will have to be improved by myself in the future, when I've learnt even more. ;-)

    Everything will go worng!

Certainly I should concur that a community of highly dedicated (addicted?) perl coders is very instrumental in bringing about high quality production applications. I myself aquired quite a bit of wisdom from numerous discussions on this site.

I found some monks that are particularly helpful and forthcoming (tilly, crazyinsomniac, and numerous others). Fellow monks' comments have helped me to improve my coding practices. It's pretty hard to find a similar perfect learning environment as at the monastery. Such things as news groups and various site forums do help, but they won't compare to what you get here.

In the end, however, we should all worship thy merciful keeper of this place, vroom ;-).
