First of all - I am on a slow link that the rest of my office shares.

This is relevant because after casting my vote(s) i have to wait for the page to reload, and then i have to find the ink that I was interested in folowing again and then follow it.

Would it be possible to set an option so that after voting a new (small) window appears telling me that my votes have been counted, and maybe listing what votes I chose to make and what their ratings are. This would leave the main page unaltered so that I could follow the links.

I appreciate that there might be a problem with double voting with this set up, in the same way that going back and clicking on vote could be a problem.

If things are being slow then I will often hit the back button after voting (before the page has loaded). That way I think the vote registration will still happen (once the stuff has been sent to the server) and when I go back the section I was looking at is still there. Although if I have clicked on vote I am usually at the bottom of the page. :-)

As votes are registered by IP, the double-vote protection is server-side. Going back or re-clicking vote will not re-vote, but will tell you that you have already voted from that IP.

Yeah, this would be good... But more than that, I'd want the VOTE button to show up closer to the top of the page... I don't like having to scroll down through (sometimes) dozens of replies to vote.

    .... a new (small) window appears ....

    hmm... javascript?

you can always duplicate the window you're working on (usually Ctrl+N) and vote in that new window... and usually you vote after you read the post.. so you will have already read what you want before you have voted, right?
