This confused me. I had now idea what "Where's Waldo" was, but a quick check on Google showed me that in the States they've renamed the Where's Wally books to Where's Waldo.

Why would they do that?

    Talk about off-topic, but what the heck. It's a direct translation from British to American English.

    The character is also known as Walter in Germany, Charlie in France, and Holger in Denmark. I suspect these names were all chosen to indicate a goofy, clueless sort of fellow.
