There's a story and some good posts over at use.perl.org. From what I've heard it sounds excellent. Unfortunately I can't give you a review since mine hasn't arrived yet.

Update: Oh yeah, and if you're going to order the book online, don't buy it from Amazon, they're evil. Now where'd that dead horse go...

YAU: I'm not sure how much of a feel for the book it'll give you, but O'Reilly has made a sample chapter on XML basics available online.
