Sometimes, I want to /msg people and find myself not remembering their username's exact spelling. What follows is tedious guesswork trying to find their homenode via the search box. Wouldn't it be nice if the Message Inbox offered managing a list of usernames to send a message to?

There's a workaround - at least if I've been messaged by the person I can archive one of their message so as to be able to select their message to "reply" to. But besides it not working unless you've been messaged, it feels like just the workaround it is.

The address book functionality could internally make use of that workaround though by simply adding an empty message to my archive coming from an arbitrary, user supplied account name. Upon display of the Message Inbox, empty archived messages would then be displayed in a separate section called Address Book.

I'm only talking and not offering any code because I unfortunately have no knowledge of Everything..

I want to /msg people and find myself not remembering their username's exact spelling.

Why not use your personal nodelet to hold reminders? Or maybe your own home node, or scratch pad?

I've use the chatterbox as a kind of bookmark/todo list/notepad to store things that can't be stored in the personal nodelet. i.e. /msg ignatz Tell Paco to use File::Find
      ()-()
       \"/
        `

Is an easy way to do that from anywhere without going to a different node first eluding me?

If your browser has bookmarks, or if you take the time to add some stuff to your personal nodelet.
