John M. Dlugosz, it's interesting that you raised this as a node on Monk Discuss. I personally wouldn't have done that.

However, this has brought about the opportunity for some discussion. In particular, how does one report PM server errors? I have looked through the Site How-to, and there is no entry for reporting site bugs or problems.

Depending on the degree of brokenness, I tend to do the following:

• Use the chatterbox to broadcast about the problem.
• If a page is broken due to bad tagging in a monk contribution (we have seen this with missing code tags breaking SoPW), I tend to put the node up for consideration, which is something level 6 monks (Friars) or above can do, which will draw the attention of one of the editors to the node. Monks below level 6 can post Editor Requests instead.
• Serious software or security problems (i.e. the site has been cracked or DOSed), mail vroom@blockstackers.com. .
• Site down, 500 server errors, scenarios like yours, mail perlmonk@pair.com, but only if the site stays down.
