The only thing that's missing is the ability to jump straight to "print" format from the "Newest Nodes" page. (Oh, and "print" format when posting/previewing would be nice too.)

I disagree. Making the print interface of perlmonks too accessible and usable would mean a few users would use that instead of the main interface and thus perlmonks will loose out on advertising revenues (not good), and a few community-building features such as the chatterbox.

If you prefer to browse perlmonks with a similar interface to print, then there's a setting in your user settings to turn off all nodelets, which might help.

Yes, but that would turn off all the nodelets everywhere but the frontpage. That would be fine with me, except that the chatterbox nodelet is used to signal that someone replied to your node.

Now, I could just ignore whatever is replied to my posts, but that wouldn't be very friendly. If there's a way to be notified one of your posts was replied to without have to use a nodelet, I would certainly like to know.

You *could* of course just adjust the default layout if you like it better when it's clean:

Changing the layout doesn't remove things. ;-) I don't mind losing the advertisement, or the nodelets when viewing posts. But I like being notified about followups at some place, so removing the nodelets everywhere isn't an option for me (and I don't tend to visit the front page, the only page for which you can get a different set of nodelets).

As for the CSS, neither the FAQ nor the user settings page provides a link with useful information (e.g. the structure of the page), and I don't feel like reverse engineering.
