Just came up with this:
It would be a real convience to have a link to a user's scratchpad from the CB. My idea is, if their scratchpad is public, have the user's name show up as <abitkin:s>Text.

At the very least it would be nice.

Currently, entering [pad://DamnDirtyApe] in the scratch pad will produce a link to DamnDirtyApe's scratchpad. This can be aliased like other [...] links, so that [pad://DamnDirtyApe|my pad] will produce the link my pad.

Ah I misunderstood what you were saying, and you misunderstood me. I'm talking about; when you post something in the CB it has your name with a link to your home node. If your scratch pad is visible add a :s with a link to your scratch pad.

Would be helpful for those who don't know how to create links, as you have demonstrated, and be a real convience I think.

Interesting, abitkin, but what are the odds that someone's put something on their scratchpad, AND can use the chatterbox, but hasn't found the site linking coventions yet?

Besides, the chat box regulars are always willing to point out how pad://, id://, cpan://, and such work.

Funny you should ask that, on my first couple of days, I found the scratch pad, but didn't know how to link on the CB.

Like I said, it's more of a convience than anything, but it still would be nice.

Why not use epoptai's framechat2 and just add a link to their name in the main frame? I've done something somewhat similar with hovering titles in the UserList section.

The hardest part is reading and understanding epoptai's code, but grab a fork and some Parmesean cheese and dive into it.

Are you using Mozilla? Create a new bookmark, put http://www.perlmonks.org/index.pl?node_id=108949&user=%s as the address, and pad into the Keyword field. Now you can type pad Aristotle into the URL box of a window and be taken there.
