Mur has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Background: our website's application code was written in CGI Perl, then adapted to mod_perl for speed, and then (in progress) rewritten in PHP. I couldn't tell you exactly why the working Perl code was rewritten in PHP, other than that's what the web designer was comfortable coding.

Meanwhile, our non-website application code is all Perl, highly OO and modularized.

How can we leverage this library of Perl code from PHP under Apache?

Sounds like the typical sort of job for XML-RPC. Both PHP and Perl work well with it.

BTW, are you guys looking for help? Sounds like a good place to keep the billable hours up there.
