Personally, I don't have any ideas, but I'd like to write some tutorials. I wrote the one on using (s)printf and actually love helping people out in this way. I'm not that great at answering questions in SOPW and things, but I kind of enjoy the tutorial thing.
Please let me know if there are any I can do. /msg me or email me (my email's on my home node) if anyone has anything I can do.

I would like to see a tutorial(s) on the use of sockets. How to make them, use them etc. I don't quite understand any of the current docs on it. Just my wishlist of one wish:) | [reply] |

Following a discussion on chatterbox, jcwren and I
were talking about something we'd both like to see: a
discussion of the merits and disadvantages of creating
HTML with CGI.pm, print, Mason and a template system
from a person or people who has(/have) tried different systems.
Something beyond 'XXX is best' and 'ZZZ is my favorite'
would make for interesting reading. | [reply] |

I just noticed that there is a section about this in Chapter 5 of the new edition of O'Reilly's "CGI Programming in Perl" (haven't got that far tho' so I can't comment on what it says).
There's also a chapter on HTML templating systems which discusses HTML::Template, Embperl and (briefly) HTML::Mason. Nothing on the Template Toolkit tho'.

This is a good idea, but rather then loading all the tutorials on one person, why not create a page where people can post tutorial suggestions, and people can respond saying they'll do it. Then that person can spend a day or two writeing a good tutorial and they can post it for peer review. | [reply] |

Im a decon of the monistary and was recently helped by some
of the nicest guys ive ever met online...they helped me out
alot more then i thought...They even wrote me alot of the
code instead of showing me how...And this was all to my
benifit except that half of it didn't make sense. The thread
was http://www.perlmonks.com/index.pl?node_id=20776&lastnode_id=131&
This is great because it covers many sides of perl uses,
and a good step-by-step, ground up walk through of this would
help me and soo many other new perl poets in many wonderful
ways. Application is the best means of learning ;)
Thanks,

I think tis is a great idea.
I would love to see a tutorial on setting up mod_perl/apache and what you need to do to your cgi scripts to make them use the creamy mod_perl goodness. I've been told it is quite easy, but I've had problems following the docs.
Also, a tutorial on Template Toolkit would be fantastic. There is a lot of information in the docs, so something that could thin it down a bit would be great.
Just my two cents worth
