If you know the subject matter of the post in question, I'm sure you won't have difficulties tracking down the post with the current features offered.
I'll mention again that this idea occurred to me on an occasion where I would have found it very useful. The it-wouldn't-be-useful camp just hasn't found a need for it yet. By that, I don't mean to imply you will definitely find a need for it in the future; I'm just saying that your assertion is based on expectation rather than experience. The other point I've attempted to make is that once a particular feature is available, some may find it useful in ways that they never knew they would.
Honestly, if you remember the name of the user who frontpaged a node, then I'm sure you would also be capable of remembering the post word for word.
That's simply not a reasonable perspective. The human mind works in mysterious ways.¹ It's funny what we involuntarily commit to memory and why. For instance, six months from now I might still remember that Louis_Wu frontpaged this node just because of the content of the node and the fact that he mentioned he did so in the CB. You might remember that Louis_Wu frontpaged it because I've mentioned it here in this reply to you.
