I noticed the CPAN nodelet is acting up; it says "CPAN seems to be down; connection trouble". Which reminded me that pair networks has set up their own CPAN mirror. Would it be possible to change the nodelet to use that mirror instead? It might save some resources.

Well, the CPAN nodelet uses the search.cpan.org interface, which is not available at the mirrors (specifically, it uses the RDF feed for it), so this wouldn't be feasible. I suppose there could be a new nodelet using the Pair mirror that didn't have the search functionality, but I'm not sure how useful that would be.

well, search.cpan.org has been down since this afternoon, at least, so I guess it's not the CPAN nodelet that is acting up, but rather CPAN's search ;)
I guess that even if it would be possible to use the search functionality from pair's mirror (and according to VSarkiss it is not possible), it too could go under any day. In my opinion it's better to keep using the main site.

    hope it helps,
