I also find it frustrating when bosses or coworkers can't be bothered to read the materials you've typed up. You anticipate all their questions, but they gotta hear you say it for them.

Some people learn what they see, some people learn what they hear, and some people learn what they do. It's a pain in the butt sometimes, but it's just the way each brain is wired.

And worse: when they can't read it on the screen -- they have to print it on paper! (There's a special place in hell reserved just for them.)

The 6th Rule of Perl Club is -- There is no Rule #6.

I don't mind someone printing something substantive-- if they'll actually use the printed form.

If they print their emails, that's wasteful... unless they're printing sixty emails of annual employee review drafts for proper note-taking during an offsite meeting.

If they print a user manual, that's wasteful... unless they have a habit of bringing the manual to the restroom or cafe for a little more focus-time.

Making and using paper isn't unethical. Leaving it in stacks just to collect sterile dust for a few months or years before being dumped into a greasy all-garbage receptacle... that's what deserves some negative karmic balance.
