In my opinion, nodes which are frontpaged are mostly for taking care of visitors or adding value to the usefulness of the monastery.

There are various views exist for newest nodes, which can show past nodes of few minutes to few days of selected types, which can help you to find really really new nodes. One of them is ~~framechat~~ framechat by epoptai.

There is also a view with number of replies to the node (by grinder) which easily can fulfill your task of giving the attention to the unanswered nodes..
