khopf has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I would like to use Damian Conway's Inline::Files module in a Win32 environment. Does anyone know if there is a Win32 version available? .. or if there is some other Win32 equivalent?

    Hi khopf.

I searched a few ActiveState repositories but it wasn't available. In the event that you don't want to wait (and hope they build it eventually), I seem to recall podmaster hosts his own repository and does take requests. Maybe he could build a win32 version for you? If not, you'll need to obtain 'nmake'. The following node might be useful as well: Installing modules on Win32.

    Hope this helps,

For ActiveState 6xx builds (5.6.0/5.6.1) this module is available at Inline::Files. You can download it and point PPM at it on your local drive or point PPM at the AS PPM repository.

They don't seem to have a version available for 5.8 yet, however, a very perfunctory test shows that the version for 5.6 seems to work with AS 5.8.0.

Inline::Files appears to be a pure perl module. Get the source, then get nmake15.exe from here, then run

perl Makefile.pl nmake nmake test nmake install

from the command line. Boom, it's installed.

It is now available from the ActiveState repository for both Perl 5.6 and 5.8.
