in reply to Ideas for changes to the site.

Speaking of links... Am I the only one driven mad by the way the links at the top of the page are laid out? They are, on my screen anyway, in two rows, and how many items appear in each row is totally variable. The layout depends both on the width of the browser window, as well as the width of the node title. Thus the collection of links are laid out differently from one page to the next, and one computer to the next. This is madness! Why can't we just have two fixed width rows, or some other sane option that wouldn't lead to me staring at the screen in confusion every time I want to click a section link. Stop the insanity!

Yea i have to agree with you there. It drives me nuts too. Maybe a way to choose which categories show up there (like nodelets) that would be cool!

Recently a setting was added to allow you to remove that list completely (See your settings, "No navigation menu under title bar") - you can turn on the 'Sections' nodelet instead.

True, but it would be nicer if it included the Newest Nodes link, not that you couldn't stick it in the personal nodelet. And a Super Search nodelet might be a worthy addition to the choices since you'd lose that as well.
