    I'm not sure I follow, we're not supposed to comment on this? Well, given the recent discussions about poetry in the Monastery, I feel inclined to state that this poem stinks. There, I feel better now.

    This poem is wrong on two levels. At one level, have you heard of The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement? Just because you, ahem, fork, doesn't mean you wish to procreate. There may be other reasons coming into play, as it were.

    Secondly, 0 is a legitimate return code from fork. It means you're the child. Therefore:

    my $kid = fork; die "Dammit, I must be sterile." unless defined $kid;

    is a more accurate depiction of what you're trying to say. Perl Poetry is successful when it works on many levels. This only works on one. You may as well have written it in BASIC. Come on, challenge me. Make me think.

      "Shooting Blanks"
      use subs 'fork'; while( 1 ) { $me = fork(); print "$me\n"; } sub fork{ '*click*' }
      Anyone up for some voluntary gene pool removal?

      Gentlemen! you shouldn't get so fired up about
      Perl poetry. And requesting no comments is a pretty
      unreasonable request now, isn't it?
