$| and 5.8.2

smackdab has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

On Win2K and 5.6.1 I never set $| true and
I still got print's to STDIO to show up even without a "\n"
Now with 5.8.2, I had to set $| true.
Just checking to make sure this is the correct "fix"

How do you open STDIO? Are you speaking of STDOUT? Please post code that shows the problem. IO buffers are always flushed when they are closed. After Compline, Zaxo	[reply]

DARN, yes, I mean STDOUT. Basically, no output to the console shows up until I print the "\n", which is different that 5.6.1 (at least for me ;-)h	[reply]
