How do you open STDIO? Are you speaking of STDOUT?

Please post code that shows the problem. IO buffers are always flushed when they are closed.

    DARN, yes, I mean STDOUT. Basically, no output to the console shows up until I print the "\n", which is different that 5.6.1 (at least for me ;-)h
