Maybe it's just me. But I can't help but wonder - why would you not want to Master Perl :)

Seriously though, it's a series. So if you're studying Perl this way, read them in order.

But even that course of action doesn't preclude you getting both and flipping through the Mastering volume to get deeper into something you're currently working with...
