Irrelevant blabber for fellowmonks: one good reason for me using telnet is the name, it's so "war games"-like. Ssh, on the other hand, it's like wardialing without the girl (or boy, whatever). Yikes ssshhhh. But unless you are making a movie, ssh is the way to go.
