The code wrap length can be easily changed in your user settings. You should also consider that people view the site at many different resolutions with different text sizes. In my opinion, it's far better to have the code wrap then to expand the tables off the side of their screen. This is especially the case when a single node that you weren't even reading ends up messing up an entire page, as I'm sure we've all seen happen to the Monastery Gates before.
