Most monks don't bother editing the titles of their reply nodes. This isn't necessarily a horrible sin (or even a bad thing), but it does lead to nodes with titles of the form "Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: foo". All the "Re:"s distract from and dominate the subject, which sucks.
How about an option to collapse chains of "Re:"s into one, with a bracketed number to show the depth of that particular reply? The code doesn't have to be particularly intelligent: it could simply avoid messing with any title not of the form /(Re: )+original_title/, for instance. It's not a big thing, but judging by the number of monks who hand-hack their reply titles to do this, it might make a lot of people happy.
