Running it through B::Deparse reveals that you're close:
perl -MO=Deparse -e '$foo = "blarny!"; print $foo.bar.baz.quux;'
yields:
$foo = 'blarny!'; print $foo . 'bar' . 'baz' . 'quux'; -e syntax OK
And prints "blarny!barbazquux".
